… we are two IT-Professionals, Stefan aged 44 and Dominik 40 (at the current moment in time 😉 ). We have been with the company for 18 and 13 years.

What began as colleague relationship in 2010 developed into a friendship, with our first 2 month trip back in 2015, backpacking through South East Asia – there will be a post about this in the upcoming weeks. Already there we were entertaining the idea to buy a car, but well that did not happen.

Back again to SE Asia in 2017 for about 7 weeks – again will post later about this.

2018 – 2019 was planned to be a 3 months trip through Chile and Argentina, however this one got cut short to 6 weeks as we got the request to go to India for work, which we happily did. Working for the same company does come in handy when provided with such an opportunity. India as well gave us time to think about how to continue our South America trip, again we were thinking about renting a car during the trip. Renting a car on the spot was not possible at that moment, but with the India hiatus we were able to plan this a bit more properly and thus we ended up with a Suzuki Jimney and a rooftop tent that needed to go from Punta Arenas to Calama.

So that is what happend 2019 – 2020, and it was fun. It as well showed us that we can stand each other 10 cm apart in the same bed for a longer period of time. Coming back in 2020 and Covid hit.

Strange times which gave me – Dominik – the time to tick one more box of my bucket list, getting my motorcycle license. G why did i wait so long for it? Anyway Stefan was a bit more reluctant but got around to it in 2021. So a few short motorcycle tours later and traveling being a bit scarce we thought about what to do next. The Pan American Highway being on our mind but as well the trip Germany to Singapore. Anyway in late 2022 we applied for a 12 month time out and with the world being what it is currently the Americas where chosen as the destination.

New bikes, developing gravel skills and putting together a packing list is, what we have done in 2023 while waiting for the company approval. Which arrived in July for Stefan and in May for Dominik. So let´s do this.
